Ways you can help

Each year the TACPAAA tries to do multiple events and participate in as many community events as possible. Each event we have to have supplies for information, for education, for officer recognition, for marketing, or for the development of future programs and ideas. 100% of our funds come from membership fees and donations from the community. We cannot do it alone and every penny we get in goes back towards one of three categories:
If you would be interested in donating you can donate at any RRFCU location by asking to deposit into the TACPAAA account or e-mail us at [email protected] to make other arrangements.
- Officer Recognition - We will recognize all the TAPD officers and try to do things throughout the year to acknowledge their sacrifice, their commitment and the integrity that each officer holds. This might be in the forms of small gifts, dinners, daily use items, or even thank you cards. This also covers special events that are strictly for the officers and their families.
- Officer Support - We work to help hold up the officers during their low points such as the loss of a loved one or injury. This category also covers our Support Box we have in the officer's briefing room which has all sorts of daily items, drinks, snacks, and things that the officer might need and not be able to stop to grab. This also covers the vests and other safety equipment our members may need to support the officers with physical staff support during area events (Traffic Control, Crowd Control, or during emergency situations)
- Community Outreach - We work with various agencies throughout the city to try to connect with the general public and act as a bridge between the Police and the communities. We will attend and talk with various National Night Out events, setup a booth at various events, work with TAPD to staff their booths if needed, and work on various outreach programs to help combine the officers and community in a joint effort.

Support
Each year Law Enforcement Agencies across the country face communities that fail to embrace them and sometimes even lash out at them. Due to this the officers in these agencies become strained in feeling the community doesn’t want them. Then when we add in the decreased budgets and lack of manpower it can tend to strain them even further as these agencies continue to offer the same services, same level of services, and reach out even more to the communities. The Texarkana Arkansas Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association (TACPAAA) was founded by the citizens in our community that want to help – more than ever these founding members recognized the need to volunteer. The words of President Kennedy – “Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country” – echo the call for citizen participation in community police support and meeting the challenge of supporting our community and our officers. Our goal is for the events that we have seen through the country that have become attacks on officers, destruction of communities, or heartbroken cities are not something that happens in Texarkana. Part of helping to prevent that is the attitude we take towards our officers. These officers regardless of their race, sex, or creed all desire one thing. To make this city safe for their fellow citizen and their own family. There is not one officer who doesn't love this city and is not willing to daily put their life in our citizens hands to ensure it remains safe. We can support these officers easily by respecting their position, their authority, and their sacrifice for the community. Officer's daily deal with citizens at their worst times, they are called names daily, they are cussed at, they are belittled, they are lied to. We can make their day easier by just a simple thank you. If you see an officer out, take the extra few steps to stop them and tell them, "Thank you".
